Hawaii Diaries 1

History

I had always wanted to go to Hawaii after my honeymoon in November 1999. In 2008 I was leaving my kids (they were three years old back then) for the second time and some how HI seemed really far (It is when you go via Europe)

So, we skipped HI. That's when I found my new love--S.F.O
In 2009 we planned to go to HI and S.F.O. But, we were only getting three days in HI. So, yet again we cancelled, HI. I have actually been going to S.F quite a bit. last year being the most recent.

I was happy with S.F.O, and convinced that Hawaii will never happen. I even made peace with it.
But, I did not know that Honolulu was waiting to rekindle my love for it.:-)

Last year in December  my husband had to visit  America, for work. I had already had a vacation in January, but he was ready to take me.
Despite some hurdles I made a decision to go. (I did feel guilty when I got back, but I am still glad I went)
Hawaii was not even on the list. I thought of going to Japan (NEW COUNTRY!) We did not have enough days for the Japanese visa and then I thought of HI. We found a direct flight from Tokyo to Honolulu, and it was just perfect!!!! (Delhi - Tokyo 8 hours. And, Tokyo- Honolulu- 8 hours)

We were getting only 3 nights and I thought, it's now or never!
So--I took the plunge!!!!!!!!!

So, now that you know the history lets begin.

As you all know, I am the fixated sorts, I want to write a step by step for Hawaii. sorry but not sorry ;)

Honolulu Day 1

We reached Honolulu early morning of 15th December 2013. As we had stayed in Outrigger Waikiki for our honeymoon, that was our first only choice to stay in. All excited we reached the hotel at about 7.45am only to learn that we will get the room by 3pm. I was prepared of course, but I was really hoping that we get the room.
So, we had all the time in the world. After storing our luggage we had a healthy yummy breakfast at iHop and, then we just strolled the street of Waikiki. After 16 hours of flight plus more than 6 hours of transit we were squished. So, we decided to go for a movie. So, that we could 'sit' and relax.

iHop Breakfast ;)
We watched ' The Hunger Games 2' and I ended up dozing off in few parts of the film.
Well, finally got the room at 3.45 and BAM.  I slept. And, then he did to.

That's how my day-1 got over. I woke up at 9pm already saddened that this day has gone. I went to the International Market but could not find what I would have preffered to eat. So, I bought a box of froot loops(yum), yoghurt and an egg sandwich from the ABC stores!

So, that was my Day 1!!!

Watch out for my Day-2 post!Leaving y'all with a pic

  3. How exciting! I have never been to Hawaii. The flights are always too expensive - since I'm all the way on the other side of the US. It's actually cheaper for me to fly to Europe. Course I've never been there either...

  5. What a great vacation! I love your pictures! And it's interesting, there's actually kind of a Japanese community in Hawaii. Last time I went, I was 6 years old and that was about 15 years ago! I enjoyed it so much. But I love SFO too! I grew up going there a lot and actually flew to HI from SFO. Ahh, I miss my childhood!
